As many of you know, I will be launching the Daily 5 in my classroom this year. I am so excited! With getting a whole new reading curriculum this year, having mixed groups, and having different expectations for the layout of our reading block, Daily 5 will be the saving grace for my sanity! In addition to working on my never-ending list of things to do, I am trying to get together what I will need for Daily 5 to be ready to go! My focus right now has been the Work on Writing materials. If you read my post about Classroom Must-Haves from Ikea, you will know that I purchased this: It is the Trofast Organizer for $39.99. I bought some chevron fabric and foam, so my mom (master seamstress) could whip up a bench cushion. My plan is for each drawer to be a month (I will make labels or use vinyl). I want to have everything done & organized Each month I will keep the same framework but vary the content to fit the month. The framework includes making lists, journal prompts, research, and stationary. For making lists, I am using Second Story Window’s free list prompts. I created these list pages that I am sharing with you all for free! I included primary & elementary lines, color & black/white. Click on the cover to download from my TPT Shop! I wanted to create my own set of journal prompts, but at this time it wasn’t possible (so much to do… so little time). I found this Ebook that I bought from Scholastic awhile back. I loved these prompts but the only down-side is that there are multiple ones on a page. They are not on separate cards that could be easily printed. I typed these up and added some adorable graphics and put them in monthly folders that will go into the monthly drawer. Unfortunately, I am unable to share these with you because of Scholastic copyright issues. They wrote the journal prompts, not me. For research, I have purchased some flash cards at Target & Joann’s and also this great set of Life Cycle Books from a Groupon deal. Regular Price $80.00 Groupon Price $11.99 If you haven’t seen it yet on my Facebook or Instagram, I’m an author over at the brand new 2nd and 3rd grade collaboration board!
